About This Quote

Most of the time, we like to think that our taste is objective. We view ourselves as cool, objective readers who decide on the right book for us, at the right time. However, there are times when we read a book and it does not sit well with us at all. We may like the book in general, but at this particular moment in time, it just doesn’t seem to be hitting the spot.

We may say to ourselves, “I really like this book; I love the way it’s written and I think it has a lot to offer me. But right now, I don’t feel like reading it. I’m going to put it down and pick something else up later.” In other words, we may not have been reading the correct book for us at this particular moment in time.
